Copilots for work & school
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat (AI chatbot for work)
M365 Copilot Chat is a free chat bot that’s part of UVic’s M365 service. It’s built on OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology but uses to keep your data secure and private.
Microsoft 365 Copilot (add-on license)
Microsoft 365 Copilot is an add-on license that will be available for purchase in 2026. M365 Copilot users can use advanced generative AI tools in Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and other M365 apps with the added safety of .
M365 Copilot mobile and web apps
Microsoft has renamed several existing apps that were previously called “Microsoft 365” to “Microsoft 365 Copilot” (or “M365 Copilot” for short):

The function of these apps hasn’t changed. You can still use these apps to access all your Microsoft 365 apps and resources.
For clarity, we call these the Microsoft 365 Copilot web app and Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app.
Personal Copilot
Microsoft Copilot is a free AI personal assistant for non-work tasks. You can use Microsoft Copilot on the web, in Edge and in other Microsoft apps when you’re not signed in to your UVic account.
Copilot looks and functions very much like M365 Copilot Chat, but it doesn’t use . Anything you enter in Copilot could be saved and stored in data centres outside of Canada and used as training data.
It’s up to you whether you want to use Copilot for personal tasks and hobbies. Never give it access to sensitive student, business or research data.

Some of Microsoft’s other Copilot products include:
