Projects
Here are some of our key initiatives for 2025/2026.
Exchange Online upgrade for employees
We're upgrading all employee email accounts from Exchange 2016 to Exchange Online. This update will help us maintain the technical currency of UVic's email service. It also adds better Microsoft 365 integration for users.
Project timeline
This service upgrade is currently in Phase Four, which includes upgrades to shared mailboxes.
See the role based email changes notice for more information.
Getting started with a project
University Systems project managers coordinate our internal IT projects and support people outside of Systems who are working on their own IT projects. We offer support, consultations and resources.
If you would like to initiate an IT-related project, start with a consultation. You should contact us as early as possible to discuss your project.

Job opportunities
We post full-time, part-time and casual job opportunities on the UVic Careers website.
Co-op opportunities
University Systems has been an experiential learning partner since the early days of UVic's Co-op program. Over the years we’ve hired over 300 students across all UVic faculties on campus. Several have gone on to work in full-time roles across University Systems after graduating.
We hire up to 12 co-op students each term with opportunities in technical support, software development, network operations, and more.
We post positions several months in advance of the work term. Typically:
- September work term positions are posted in June
- January work term positions are posted in November
- May work term positions are posted in March
All co-op positions are posted in UVic's co-op portal. Learn more about applying for co-op jobs at UVic.
