Need to get across campus and want some extra peace of mind? SafeWalk is here for you.
A UVic Security Officer will meet you and walk with you to your destination—whether it’s your residence, your car or another building on campus. This service is available any time, day or night, and is designed to help you feel safe and supported while moving around campus.
To arrange a SafeWalk escort, call Campus Security at 250-721-7599 or use one of the direct dial phones located around campus.
A SafeWalk escort may be delayed if Campus Security is experiencing a heavy call volume. A call back number will enable us to contact you in the event of a lengthy delay.
Campus Alone
Working or studying outside regular hours or in less populated areas? Let Campus Security know where you are so we can check in on you.
Call Campus Security at 250-721-7599 with the following information:
- Your name, exact location and phone number
- Estimated time of departure (if this changes, call again to update)
- Your mode of travel and, if applicable, a vehicle description and location where you've parked your vehicle
When you're ready to leave, call again to let us know. If we do not receive your call advising of your departure, a Security Officer will follow up to check on you.
Campus Security will make every effort to visit you while you are working alone. However, a visit may be delayed or unavailable if Campus Security is experiencing a heavy call volume.
